Maui, Hawaii

Maui is our first destination in our 4 Islands, 4 Weeks Hawaii Retirement Celebration Trip. We stayed at The Fish Condo, a VRBO owned by a Minnesota couple. Below is a look at our full itinerary. See the Photos and Videos page and Deb’s Blog for more about this trip.

Beach/Relaxation Day

Day 5:
Beach Morning
Lunch @ Pi Artisan Pizzeria
Shopping in Lahaina

Day 6:
Lunch @ Kula Ranch
Mountain Drive

Day 7:
Travel Day to Kauai
Lunch at Mariachi’s Mexican Restaurant (get the queso!)

Oahu, Hawaii

Final week of our Retirement Trip was spend in Oahu at the Disney Aulani Resort and at The Prince Waikiki Hotel. My son Matt and his wife Julie joined us to celebrate their delayted honeymoon as well due to COVID-19 shutdowns. We tried to make it memorable for them and in the end made it very memorable for us as well.

Day 1:

More swimming with turtles in the lagoon
Dinner @ Highway Inn (local Hawaiian eatery)

Day 2:
Massages at Thai~Issan Village Ko Olina
Lunch @ Zippy’s (local Hawaiian eatery)
Pool Time @ Aulani
Celebration Dinner @ Roy’s Ko Olina

Day 3:
Drive to west side of Oahu
Horseback riding and UTVs @ Kualoa Ranch
Lunch and touring of the Polynesian Cultural Center
Alii Luau
Ha: Breath of Life Show

Day 4:
Visit to Pearl Harbor Memorial
Visit to USS Missouri Memorial
Lunch @ Nico’s Pier 38
Check in at The Prince Waikiki Luxury Hotel
Take out from Marakume Udon, masters of handmade udon noodles

Day 5:
Pool Day - Prince Waikiki
Take out from Karai Crab Honolulu
Game Play
Deliver Matt & Julie to the airport

Day 6:
Shopping in Waikiki
Lunch @ Tommy Bahama Waikiki Restaurant and Bar
Drive to Airport and bid farewell to Hawaii!

Day 7:
Arrive home

Kauai, Hawaii

Week 2, Island 2 of our trip. Kauai was our second destination of the 4 Islands. We stayed in Poipu at Kapili #27, a condo that is part of the Parrish Collection. Great pool area and view of ocean from the condo (see picture above).

Pool Day after tour was canceled due to swells

Day 6:
Drive to Waimea Canyon
Hike of the Pihea Trail
Best Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese Sandwiches at Porky’s on Waimea Road

Travel Day to Big Island

Big Island, Hawaii

Week 3 and new travel companions. We stayed inland this week at a King’s Land by Hilton Grand Vacation. Very nice resort and we had a great room. We also had access to the Hilton Waikoloa Village so two resorts for the price of one!

Drive to Hilo via Saddle Road
“Escape Hilo” Room - Christmas in Hawaii
Lunch @ “Kuhio Grille” (home of the famous 1 pound laulau)
Big Island Candies
Dinner at Tommy Bahama Restaurant - Mauna Lani

Day 5:
11-hour Big Island Circle Tour with Zoe, our great tour guide!
Stop 1: Greenwell Farms Coffee
