Day 13 - Arizona Beach Club

July 4, 2023: At 8:30AM, we caught a train from Lucca to Viareggio. We had a reservation at “Bango Arizona” or Arizona Beach Club. We reserved a gazebo which had a table, chairs and loungers. Beaches are so different in Italy (at least in Viareggio). The majority of the beach is owned by different beach clubs. So, instead of bringing your own beach chairs and umbrellas like you would in Florida, everything is owned by the beach club and organized in a very orderly fashion. They had a pool and a jacuzzi. We had access to the pool with our gazebo rental, but we had to pay extra for the jacuzzi. We expected a hot jacuzzi, but instead it was just slightly warmer than the pool. The pool was more for laps and there were a lot of kids with their parents in the pool. This is obviously a place where Italians bring their kids during the summer. It was a windy day, so the ocean waves were definitely prevalent. We enjoyed our little gazebo, soaking in the sun, playing cards and generally enjoying the club. We had to catch a 4:30PM train back to Florence, so we packed up at about 3PM and grabbed a taxi back to the train station.

Sometime during our travels and tours, I have picked up a cold, so after returning to our Airbnb, I was exhausted and feeling crappy. Jimm went out and had dinner by himself and brought me back a margarita pizza. It was an early night for me as I am trying to fight this cold so we can continue on with our agenda.
