Day 16: Massages, Tea and Pick Cheese

Well, it’s our last day in London and so we only had a few things left on our agenda. First up was massages! It has become our signature thing to do when traveling is to find a place to get a massage before we leave. This time we found Thai Square Spa which was very close to Trafalgar Square. The spa turned out to have an eclectic mix of Thai, Roman and Turkish decor and felt very luxurious. We each had a 90 minute massage. It was perfect because Jimm has been having pain and numbness in his sciatica nerve and I am having pain in my left shoulder. We both left feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. All ready for the long flight home tomorrow.

Our second thing on the agenda for today was our final Afternoon Tea at One Aldwych which was themed after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We decided to indulge our inner child and it turned out to be whimsical while still maintaining the traditional afternoon tea appeal. The lobby had the chocolate factory vibe, but the actual dining area was more subdued. We believe it is because it is in a hotel and the room is also used for regular service. Either way, the service and the tea itself were both top notch! They had imaginative treats such as "fizzy lifting" drinks, snozzberry jam, and chocolate caramel milkshakes, all crafted to evoke the magic of Willy Wonka's world.

The last thing on our agenda was a place called Pick Cheese which is renowned as the world's first cheese conveyor belt restaurant. Established by The Cheese Bar, it offers a unique dining experience where patrons select from a rotating assortment of British cheeses and accompaniments presented on a 40-meter conveyor belt. However, at the last minute we decided to cancel. We were so full from our tea and Jimm is feeling little under the weather, so we decided to just stay in for the evening and order some pizza from around the corner while finishing our packing. We will have to do the Pick Cheese on our next trip, because there will definitely be a next trip in our future!
