Day 6 - Heading Down Under
This morning we got up before the crack of dawn to head to the Auckland International Airport for our flight over to Sydney Australia. Tomorrow we will set sail on our 10-Day South Pacific Cruise on the Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas. The flight was uneventful, but did like Air New Zealand. Although flying another airline always makes us grateful for our Delta Airlines status and all that comes with it. The seats were comfortable with plenty of length room for the 3 hour and 30 minute flight.
When we got to Sydney we grabbed and Uber and headed to our hotel in “The Rocks” near Sydney Harbour. My niece and her boyfriend were already here waiting for us after arriving a few hours earlier, so we dropped out bags and went out exploring the area. There was an art fair going on that we found out happens every Saturday here so we perused the wares being sold and then found a nice little pub called “Endeavor Tap Room” and grab some pints and sparkling wine for me. We sat outside enjoying the sun and warm weather after the rainy days in Auckland. We walked a little more and then headed to an Italian Restaurant for dinner called Caminetto Italian Restaurant. The food was good, not “great”, but the company was as caught up on our experiences in New Zealand and their flight to Australia.
Back at the hotel they were having a happy hour event so we sat in the lobby for a little while longer before calling it an early night and heading back to our rooms in preparation for our big day tomorrow. Christina and Steve had very little sleep over the previous 48 hours, so they needed a little catch up. We are very much looking forward to the cruise, our first since before the pandemic. More to come about this part of our adventure. I realize as I close out this post that I did not take any pictures yesterday, so will add one if any of the rest of our group took any.
