Day 26 - Transition: Milan to London

Hotel AMANO Covent Garden

July 17, 2023: Today was a travel day. We had to be up early to catch a train from Milan Centrale Station to Milan’s Malpensa Airport. We did not know how long it would take to get through security, so we wanted to make sure we had enough time. We were pleasantly surprised that the process went very smoothly and while checking in learned that because we were flying KLM, my Delta Skymiles status allowed us to go to the lounge. We had a nice relaxing time waiting for our flight to Amsterdam. The flight was smooth and we landed in Amsterdam with no issues. Once in Amsterdam, we had to go through passport control. We only waited in line for a short time and again, we were able to go to the lounge and wait out our layover. Finally, after a few hours, we were onboard our flight to London’s Heathrow airport. We arranged to have a car pick us up to take us to our hotel in Covent Garden. In hindsight, we should have taken the Underground train, it would have been much faster. It took us over an hour by car and the train would have been 35 minutes. Lesson learned!

We checked in to the Hotel AMANO Covent Garden and got our things settled, then we went out an about to find a place to grab some dinner. We ended up finding a BBQ place that made great pulled pork 🐖 and burnt butts. No pasta tonight 🍝!! Then it was back to the hotel to crash after a very full day of travel. We are very much looking forward to our 5 days in London! 🇬🇧
