A View from Above - Day 8

Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour of Kauai

Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour of Kauai

Emerald cliffs, towering waterfalls, razor sharp cliffs, gorgeous beaches; the list of descriptors could go on and on. This is the Napali Coast of Kauai. To see it by helicopter is a rare treat and not to be missed if you make your way to this beautiful island. There are parts of the island you can only see by helicopter because over 70% of the island being inaccessible by land. For Jimm and I, this was our second time taking a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour. We would highly recommend them. Both times the pilots have been so entertaining and knowledgeable and the staff is friendly and professional. This was the first time for our travel companions, Joe and Cheryl. They were equally impressed with the breath taking views and the smoothness of the ride. Our pilot Greg took us over Manawaiopuna Falls, also known as “Jurassic Park” falls, wedged in between the mountain top of the Hanapepe Valley. We also flew over the Olokele Canyon and the majestic Waimea Canyon, often called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Then, it was on to Kauai’s magical North Shore to view the green valleys and 3,000-foot sea cliffs, the pristine turquoise-blue waters of Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Resort area. All the while listening to music from the movies and TV shows filmed here. The entire flight takes less than hour, but covers a large portion of the island. Before our helicopter tour we stopped at Kauai Beer Company for some local brew and a delicious lunch. We all agreed that is was good enough to deserve a second trip there sometime this week. We chose to relax and cook dinner at the condo tonight and played our first round of Dominoes Mexican Train. This group is pretty competitive with our games, so I am happy to say the win went to me!!

Aloha everyone!
