Legends of Hawaii Lu’au - Day 16

Legends of Hawaii Luau Performers

Legends of Hawaii Luau Performers

Day 16 was Luau day! Since it is Katherine and Steven’s first time to the islands, we had to make sure we did a luau with them. We chose to do the Legends of Hawaii Luau at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Before the luau we spend the morning at the Kings Land pool area where we are staying. We had found a great spot to sit the first night we arrived, so we got set up there and enjoyed some Hawaiian sun until early afternoon. Then it was time to prep for the evening. Katherine and I found a place called the KOR Salon to get our nails done before the luau. They served wine while you had your service (love that!) and they did a great job on our nails. Then we caught up with the guys at Aloha Wine Bar where they were waiting for us. Check-in time was 4:15pm for the luau, so it was off to the Hilton. Probably the most disappointing part of the luau experience was waiting in line to get in. We had priority seating, so they asked us to check in early, we thought it was because we would have access to some artisans and activities before the meal and show. Unfortunately, it just put us in the front of the line but we all had to wait in the heat until the doors opened at 5:00pm. We did have seating with a perfect view of the stage, so it was worth the little extra for the tickets. The food and drinks were full of tropical flavors created with traditional island ingredients. They served Hawaiian sweet potatoes as both appetizer in the form of chips, dinner as a side and as one of the desserts. Very interesting. I have been to three previous luaus on Oahu and Kauai, I would say the food was better than some of the others, but overall, this one would rank 4th out of four for me. We are doing another luau in Oahu with my son and his wife next week, so I will have another comparison. That being said, you really can’t complain when you are in Hawaii and getting to experience a little of bit of the culture here. It’s all good!

Aloha, Deb
