Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail Hike - Day 10
Sometimes, the beauty of a place takes your breath away. It happened to me many times when I was traveling in Norway when everywhere you looked seemed like it should be on a postcard. It happened to me again on the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail hike we took from Shipwreck Beach almost to Punahoa Point. The views and the colors were simply amazing, especially the closer you got to the point and Poipu Bay golf course nearby. This trail is the last stretch of accessible coastline on the south shore that has not been developed. Check out the photos on the Photos and Videos page. After our hike we headed back to our condo and it started to rain. The first day of rain we’ve had since the trip started. Jimm and Joe headed to Kōloa Rum™ Company Store & Tasting Room. We could only get a reservation for one tasting, and since it was Jimm’s idea, he took advantage of the spot. Later in the evening we headed to La Spezia Italian restaurant, voted Kaua‘i’s Best Italian Restaurant, for my official retirement celebration dinner. If you travel to Kauai, this is another “must do”. Everyone’s meals were perfection. Jimm was hoping they would have tiramisu, and he was not disappointed. I had a salted caramel custard that melted in your mouth. We paired it all off with a great bottle of Michael David "Earthquake" Cabernet. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures, so you will just have to trust me on this! The atmosphere is also very quaint. So all-in-all another great day in Hawaii, although I don’t know how you can have a bad day in Hawaii.
Aloha! Deb
