Snorkeling - Day 2
I did my first snorkeling in Hawaii in 2007, when I was on Oahu. Snorkeling is a very unique experience that is hard to describe if you haven’t done it yourself. The ocean is an unknown world to most, so getting to catch a glimpse of it is pretty special. Since I do not swim well, I was originally very fearful of snorkeling, but with the use of a floatation device, you can enjoy the experience with ease. Today, we took the Pride of Maui snorkeling tour out to the Molokini Crater. Molokini is widely considered a world-class snorkeling destination. It is a partially submerged volcanic crater that features some of the clearest water for snorkeling. The tour was operating at 50% capacity due to the current pandemic, which meant there was plenty of space on the boat and very little wait time. I don’t think I would want to do this excursion if they were at full capacity. It would be very crowded both on the boat and in the water. We had hoped to see some sea turtles, but struck out on that account. However, we did see some hump back whales and various species of fish and other marine life. The crew was extremely friendly and the food was good. All in all, a great day spend out on and in the water. We also got a chance to try out our new GoPro Hero 8 camera. It worked perfect underwater. I will post some videos of our adventure on the site as soon as I figure out how to do it!!
